Samsung Electronics has just confirmed that it has been the victim of a hack by a South American hacker group, namely Lapsus$.
Quoted from the Threat Post, Tuesday (8/3/2022), related to the company's internal data being stolen by criminals, there was no leakage of customer and employee data.
The incident occurred on Friday last week, where the hacker group claimed to have stolen confidential company information, including the source code for Galaxy phones.
As reported by BleepingComputer, the Lapsus$ hacking group leaked nearly 190GB of data belonging to Samsung Electronics.
In the evidence shown, hackers have biometric authentication information to source code from Samsung and one of its suppliers, namely Qualcomm.
In the same statement, Samsung confirmed to Bloomberg that "certain company internal data" had been stolen by unauthorized parties following a security breach.
Further, the company representative did not say whether the intruder made demands before leaking the information, as was the case with the Nvidia leak.
It said the leaked cache from Samsung was much larger and purportedly included details of the Trusted Applet on Samsung's TrustZone platform which is responsible for sensitive tasks such as hardware encryption, binary encryption, and access control.
The hackers also claim that the shared data includes the source code for Knox, Samsung's proprietary security and management framework on most of its devices.
