Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Meta, is testing an artificial intelligence (AI) system. by allowing one to construct virtual worlds simply by describing them.
This was revealed through a video shown by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg last week. The prototype of the ambitious technology is called the Builder Bot.
In a pre-recorded demonstration video, Mark Zuckerberg's avatar guides viewers through a virtual space with the Builder Bot.
The Facebook founder gave commands such as "let's go to the beach" to bring up a 3D cartoon background that depicts a beach like sand and water.
In the video, Zuckerberg also "creates" clouds with sound, down to specific shapes, namely altocumulus clouds, tables, drinks, sound effects, tropical music, to trees.
"This is all shaped by AI," Mark Zuckerberg explained, in the video on the Meta AI YouTube channel, as quoted Monday (28/2/2022).
Citing The Verge, Builder Bot appears to use voice input to add 3D objects that the user can act upon, and Meta aims for more ambitious interactions.
"You'll be able to create a nuanced world to explore and share experiences with others with just your voice," Zuckerberg said in his keynote.
Quoted from Tech Crunch, Meta says on its blog that this prototype will "encourage creativity in the metaverse" although it doesn't reveal any technical details.
In addition, Meta also announced several other projects such as AI-powered chatbot, AI system card tool, and Universal Speech Translator.
The company claims that the translation technology they developed can provide instant speech-to-speech translations in all languages, including most spoken ones.
In an online presentation, Zuckerberg said, "The ability to communicate with anyone in any language is a superpower that many people dream of and AI will make it happen in our lives."
