Elon Musk activated Starlink internet service in Ukraine, after Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov asked him for help.
Starlink itself is a broadband internet connection service from space without the need for fiber optic cables on Earth.
The idea behind this SpaceX project is to provide people in the most remote areas of the world with high-speed internet access through a constellation of satellites orbiting the planet.
Development of the network began in 2015, with the first prototype satellite launched into orbit in 2018.
Since then, SpaceX has put nearly 2,000 Starlink satellites into orbit through dozens of successful launches. On February 3, 2022, the company sent another 49 satellites into orbit.
Having the Starlink satellite placed over Ukraine means that the country will continue to have internet connectivity without the threat of Russia wanting to disable it and cut off critical communications.
To connect to the internet, users need a Starlink kit, including a router. This is as reported by Euronews, Sunday (27/2/2022).

"Starlink's [internet] service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals will follow soon," said the CEO at SpaceX and Tesla.
The statement was made by Elon Musk via his personal Twitter account @elonmusk in response to a tweet from the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov.
"@elonmusk, when you try to colonize Mars, Russia tries to take over Ukraine!," said Fedorov, who is also Ukraine's deputy prime minister.
Furthermore, Fedorov also compared the conditions when a SpaceX rocket successfully landed back on Earth after a space trip, a Russian rocket attacked Ukrainian civilians.
"We ask you to provide Ukraine with a Starlink station," Fedorov said.
Internet Service in Ukrainian City Dead
The non-governmental organization that focuses on the issue of internet freedom, Netblocks, stated that on February 24 there was an internet disruption in the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine.
"Confirmed: Significant internet outage in #Kharkiv city under #Ukraine control, shortly after big explosion was heard," Netblocks said.
In addition, on February 26 Netblocks also reported that Twitter services have been restricted by several ISPs in Russia.
"The incident [Twitter service shuts down] occurred when the government clashed with Twitter over policies related to the #Ukraine conflict," Netblocks said.
