The Ukrainian government asked Apple Inc boss Tim Cook to reduce products and block access to the App Store in Russia.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, quoted by Reuters, posted on social media a copy of a letter to Cook to "stop supplying Apple products and services to the Russian Federation, including blocking access to the App Store".
Apple has no comment on this issue. Fedorov said that this year, technology is "the best answer for tanks, rockets and missiles".
Fedorov also asked the United States to provide support in the form of sanctions against Russia.
Tim Cook took to Twitter to express his concern for Ukraine.
"I am very concerned about the situation in Ukraine. We will do everything we can for our team ... and we will support local humanitarian action," Cook said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin launched an invasion of Ukraine from the north, east and south since Thursday (24/2).
Russia's action is considered dangerous for the European agreement after the Cold War.
Russia restricts Facebook access
Russia restricts access to Facebook and accuses the social network of censoring the country's media.
Russia's communications regulator Roskomnadzor said Facebook ignored their requests to lift the ban on four media, namely RIA news agency, Defense Ministry's Zvevda TV, gazeta.ru and lenta.ru websites.
"In line with the decision of the Public Prosecutor's Office, from February 25, Roskomnadzor imposed a partial access ban on the social network Facebook," Roskomnadzor said, quoted by Reuters on Saturday.
Moscow has also put pressure on the domestic media and said it would block news stories containing "false information" about military operations in Ukraine.
Meta Platforms' head of international affairs, Nick Clegg, tweeted: "Yesterday, Russian authorities ordered us to stop independent fact-checking and labeling of content posted on Facebook by four Russian state-owned organizations. We refused. As a result, they announced they would restrict our services." .
According to Clegg, "ordinary Russians" use apps from Meta, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook and Messenger, to "express themselves and plan actions".
Russia has in recent years tightened regulations for the internet and technology companies. This policy is called to silence government opposition and limit the freedom of individuals and companies.
