Daredevil In Spider-Man: No Way Home Just Got A Lot More Likely
Daredevil (Charlie Cox) is rumored to return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the events of Hawkeye episode 3 mean that it seems even more plausible.

Daredevil (Charlie Cox) continues to be rumored for a return in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Hawkeye episode 3 makes that an even stronger possibility. Ever since the cancellation of Netflix's Marvel shows, there's been a demand to see some of those characters and actors transfer over to the MCU proper, and perhaps none more so than Matt Murdock. With Daredevil season 3 ending with such a clear tease for another outing, then there have been campaigns to "#SaveDaredevil," and Cox himself has expressed hopes of returning on numerous occasions.

Whether or not an MCU-set Daredevil season 4 or reboot show happens, it does seem increasingly likely that The Man Without Fear will be back in some way sooner rather than later. That may well be in 2021, with lots of rumors Daredevil will be in Spider-Man: No Way Home, or more specifically Matt will, with the most common theory being that Peter Parker (Tom Holland) will recruit his services as a lawyer after Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) and J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) revealed his identity to the world in Spider-Man: Far From Home's post-credits scene.

Naturally, Marvel hasn't confirmed Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but Hawkeye episode 3 does make it seem much more likely. Although not outright stated, the episode strongly sets up the return of Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin as Echo's (Alaqua Cox) "uncle," positioning him as the man at the very top of the criminal enterprise Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) are going up against. The episode all but confirms Kingpin's MCU return, even showing brief glimpses of a man whose stature would certainly fit with Wilson Fisk (and a laugh to match). If that's the case, then it confirms Marvel is bringing back Netflix characters, and so the logical next stop would be Daredevil, giving his return a clear precedent in the MCU.

Like with Kingpin in Hawkeye, Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home makes so much sense that it'd be more surprising if it didn't happen (although that can't completely be ruled out, of course). Audiences have long wanted to see both D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk and Cox's Matt Murdock in the MCU, and to bring in one but not the other seems an unlikely move, given it would only likely lead to greater calls for the actor and character left out. Much like Hawkeye's Kingpin setup, there's clear narrative reason for Spider-Man: No Way Home to use Daredevil, so neither case would just be fan service but instead quite organic, and likely lay the groundwork for bigger appearances later down the line.

The bigger question is whether the Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the Fisk in Hawkeye will be the exact same versions of the characters as seen in Netflix's Marvel universe, or if they're going to be soft reboots, bringing back the actors but as new takes on the characters (similar to Simmons in Far From Home). The MCU ignored the Netflix shows even before they were canceled, so there's little to suggest they are canon. At the same time, Marvel could likely find a way to work them into it without breaking things too much, or might instead keep things vague, allowing them to play the same characters in the same way without getting too bogged down in canon issues. Either way, it seems pretty likely that both Kingpin and Daredevil will be in the MCU again soon.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ ticket demand crashed box office sites, and that’s a good thing
When the clock stuck midnight on Nov. 29, tickets for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” went on sale. Within minutes domestic movie ticket sites began to crash as moviegoers rushed to snag seats for one of the most anticipated films of the year.

It is something that the box office has not experienced since the pandemic began and a sign that with the right releases, the movie theater industry has a “bright future,” experts say.

The pandemic battered cinemas, crushing demand and nearly bankrupting some of the industry’s largest exhibitors. The box office has been slow to rebound, but sustained momentum over the last six months has provided confidence in an eventual recovery.

Overnight, the latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a co-production between Disney and Sony, has sparked even more optimism. Ticketing sites like Atom Tickets, Fandango and MovieTickets.com alongside movie theater sites like AMC, Cinemark and Regal saw a surge of demand for tickets leading many to crash or place visitors in hour-long online queues.

“There are different tiers of intense fan demand when it comes to box office pre-sales, and this film is clearly showing it belongs near the top with a select few others,” said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com. “For anyone who doubted the communal draw of the theatrical experience over the past two years, look to this enthusiasm for ‘Spider-Man’ as a major inflection point during the box office recovery period and the sign of a bright future ahead.”

This kind of fervor has not been seen at the box office since 2019 when advanced tickets for titles like “Avengers: Endgame” and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” went on sale.

Movie theater chains have been eagerly awaiting the debut of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” with some going as far as to provide additional incentives for moviegoers to pick up tickets for opening night.

AMC partnered with and Sony Pictures to offer 86,000 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to members of its AMC Stubs Premiere, AMC Stubs A-List and AMC Investor Connect who ordered tickets for the Dec. 16 opening of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in advance.

Box office analysts were already optimistic that the latest Spider-Man film could top $100 million during its December debut, but this high demand for tickets is even more encouraging for the film’s opening.

The previous solo films for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man opened at $117 million in 2017 and $92 million in 2019, according to data from Comscore.
